Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups sabudana sago/tapioca, soaked
  • 3 large potatoes boiled and peeled
  • 0.75 cup peanuts, groundnuts, roasted and crushed
  • 3-inch piece of ginger, finely chopped
  • 3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 6 tablespoons coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 0.75 teaspoon cumin powder, jeera powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons dry mango powder, aamchur
  • Salt to taste
  • 18 teaspoons of oil for roasting

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

  • Soak sabudana in water for 4–6 hours until soft. Drain thoroughly and transfer to a large bowl.
  • Add the boiled and grated potatoes, crushed peanuts, ginger, green chilies, coriander leaves, cumin powder, dry mango powder, and salt to the sabudana.

Step 2: Combine and Shape

  • Mix all the ingredients well, mashing them into a smooth, cohesive mixture.
  • Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into round, flat patties (tikkis).

Step 3: Cook the Tikkis

  • Heat a tawa or flat pan on medium heat. Line it with butter paper to prevent sticking and reduce oil usage.
  • Place the shaped tikkis on the butter paper. Drizzle about 1–2 teaspoons of oil over each tikki for even cooking.
  • Cook until one side is golden brown and crisp, then flip and cook the other side. Add more oil if needed.

Step 4: Serve Hot

  • Transfer the roasted tikkis to a serving plate and enjoy them hot with your favorite chutney or tomato ketchup.
