Ingredients
- 4 tbsp ghee 60gm OR soft salted butter (Note: Ghee should not be melted)
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar 30gm
- 9 tbsp all-purpose flour maida (80gm)
- Pinch of salt only if using ghee
- Flavorings of your choice chocolate chips, chopped nuts, dried fruit, roasted cumin seeds, etc.
Instructions
- Creaming: In a mixing bowl, cream together the ghee (or butter) and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. You can use a hand mixer or an electric stand mixer for this step.
- Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the creamed mixture, mixing well until a soft dough forms. If using ghee, consider adding a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.
- Flavor Time! Now comes the fun part: Choose your flavorings! Here are some ideas:
- Chocolate Chip: Add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (or more to your taste) to the dough and mix them in evenly.
- Nutty Delight: Chop up your favorite nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans) and fold them into the dough.
- Fruity Fiesta: Add dried fruits like chopped cranberries, raisins, or chopped apricots to the mix.
- Savory Surprise: For a unique twist, try adding a teaspoon of roasted cumin seeds (jeera) to the dough for a savory twist.
- Feel free to experiment! You can even combine different flavors for a truly unique creation.
- Chilling Out: Once you’ve incorporated your chosen flavors, flatten the dough slightly and wrap it in plastic wrap. Refrigerate the dough for at least 1-2 hours. This step allows the flavors to meld and helps the cookies hold their shape while baking.
- Preheat Party: While your dough chills, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Shape Up! Take out the chilled dough and, on a lightly floured surface, roll it out to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to create your desired shapes, or simply cut squares for classic cookies.
- Bake Time! Transfer the shaped cookies onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Cool Down & Enjoy! Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy your delicious homemade cookies!
